Effect of topography on spatiotemporal patterns of soil moisture in a mountainous region of Northwest China
TLDR
Based on the temporal stability analysis method, the results showed that soil moisture spatial distributions in the study region were more correlated with elevation (a local control) than with precipitation (a regional control), highlighting the importance of local factors in controlling regional soil moisture spatiotemporal patterns.About:

Responses of agricultural drought to meteorological drought under different climatic zones and vegetation types
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper used the nonstationary standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (NSPEI) and the standardized soil moisture index (SSI) to analyze the evolution characteristics of meteorological drought and agricultural drought.

Temporal Stability of Spatially Measured Soil Water Probability Density Function
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed soil water data collected from three different fields by two techniques (temporal analysis of the differences between individual and spatial average values; and Spearman's rank correlation) to search if time-invariant characteristic statistical properties of the probability density functioins can be assigned to individual locations.
