TLDR
In this article, the effective solid angle of a cylindrical scintillation counter is derived in closed form for two particular isotropic sources of fast neutrons of practical interest: a point source on axis and a symmetrically placed uniform disc source of the same size as the counter face.

Geometric, effective solid angles and intrinsic efficiencies of a 3 × 3 in. NaI(Tl) for isotropic and non-isotropic photon emission

TL;DR: In this article, an easy Monte Carlo code is described to calculate the geometric and the effective solid angles for isotropic and nonisotropic photon emission as well as the intrinsic efficiencies of cylindrical detectors.

Neutron emission from laser-produced plasmas

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that no neutrons of thermonuclear origin are necessary to explain the results obtained thus far, and the absence of anomalous ion-heating mechanisms is not proved, but these mechanisms, if they exist, may be unimportant in reported experiments.
