Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of three steroidal compounds on oestrus suppression in queens.
TL;DR: Medroxyprogesterone acetate is reliable, and only one injection is sufficient to prevent the occurrence of the oestrous cycle, and methyltestosterone prevented the ostrus for only 1 month so that it can be used for oestrus suppression for a short time.
Book ChapterDOI
Hormonal Regulation of Spermatogenesis
Sherman Silber,Sherman Silber +1 more
TL;DR: The hypothalamus, the pituitary, and the testes form an integrated feedback system responsible for the correct secretion of male hormone and for normal spermatogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Embryonic-endometrial interactions during early pregnancy in the cow
TL;DR: In this paper, Uterine horn sections were collected from 17 pregnant (PREG), 9 inseminated but no embryo present and 10 non-pregnant cyclic control cows on days 12, 14, 16 and 18 after natural oestrus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of trehalose supplementation on post-thaw sperm quality of honey bee drones
Zekariya Nur,Selvinar Seven Çakmak,Ibrahim Cakmak,Nail Tekin Onder,Elif Gokce,Burcu Üstüner,Selim Alcay,Mehmet Berk Toker,Mustafa Soylu +8 more
TL;DR: The freeze-thaw process is detrimental to post-thawed drone semen viability and the addition of 0.1 or 0.05M Trehalose to the freezing media containing 12% DMSO has been seen better post- thaw cell motility and plasma membrane integrity of spermatozoa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estrogen receptor: A potential linker of estrogenic and dopaminergic pathways in zebrafish larvae following deltamethrin exposure.
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of Deltamethrin (DM) exposure on zebrafish locomotor activity was studied, showing that it significantly reduced the average swimming speed of the larvae.

Seasonal breeding:nature's contraceptive.
G A Lincoln,Roger V. Short +1 more
TL;DR: The seasonal cycle highlights the seasonal changes in daylight length, rutting behavior, testicular diameter, sexual skin flush, and concentrations of plasma follicle-stimulating hormone, prolactin, and testosterone in a group of rams throughout the year.
Journal ArticleDOI
The physiological responses of anovulatory ewes to the introduction of rams: a review.
TL;DR: Ewes of many breeds can be stimulated to ovulate by the reintroduction of rams and appear to be effected both through a delay in the onset of the LH surge and through a direct action of progesterone on the ovary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors affecting the secretion of luteinizing hormone in the ewe.
TL;DR: LH is secreted as discrete pulses throughout all stages of the reproductive cycle of the ewe, including pre‐pubertal, seasonal and lactational anoestrus, and the luteal and follicular phases of the oestrous cycle.
Nutritional influences on reproduction in mature male sheep and goats
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that nutritional signals exert powerful effects on the reproductive system of mature male ruminants, and the responses are partly independent of changes in gonadotrophin secretion.
