Abstract
The standard deviation of pressure fluctuations is always as a benchmark to characterize fluidized bed, especially in identifying the transition velocities and flow regimes. In this study, the energy of power spectral density function (PSDF) was proved to be a new alternative tool to effectively analyse the pressure fluctuations. Also, the wavelet analysis was significant to deal with the signals in multi-resolution decomposition and in identification of transition velocities and flow regimes. The results from the normalized energy of PSDF and wavelet analysis are in good agreement with the standard deviation analysis.

Multiresolution analysis on identification and dynamics of clusters in a circulating fluidized bed

TL;DR: In this paper, a wavelet threshold criterion was developed to distinguish the cluster and the void phases from the transient solids holdup/concentration fluctuation signals when measured in a 108 mm-i.d. × 5.75 m-high circulating fluidized bed with FCC particles (dp = 78 μm, ρp = 1,880 kg/m3).

Study of transition velocities from bubbling to turbulent fluidization by statistic and wavelet multi-resolution analysis on absolute pressure fluctuations

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of axial positions and static bed heights on absolute pressure fluctuation (APF) signals acquired at different positions in the beds were systematically investigated, and an appropriate measuring interval of relative axial position was recommended to identify Uk and two correlations calculated by regression of data in literatures were proposed to predict Uc and Uk for absolute pressure measurement.

Non-intrusive monitoring of bubbles in a gas-solid fluidized bed using vibration signature analysis

TL;DR: In this article, a reliable method was developed to study bubble behavior by analysis of vibration signals in fluidized beds, which enabled investigation of changes in flow structure related to flow regime transitions.

Nonintrusive characterization of fluidized bed hydrodynamics using vibration signature analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the minimum fluidization velocity can be determined from the variation of standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis of vibration signals against superficial gas velocity of the bed.

Characterization of gas-solid fluidized bed hydrodynamics by vibration signature analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of experiments were performed in a lab-scale fluidized bed using two accelerometers for measuring the vibration of the bed and a pressure probe for measuring pressure fluctuations.

Types of gas fluidization

TL;DR: The behavior of solids fluidized by gases falls into four clearly recognizable groups, characterized by density difference (ϱs −ϱf) and mean particle size as discussed by the authors, and a numerical criterion which distinguishes between groups A and B has been devised and agrees well with published data.

A State-of-the-Art Review of Gas-Solid Turbulent Fluidization

TL;DR: Turbulent fluidization has been widely recognized as a distinct flow regime for the past two decades, even though it is commonly utilized in industrial fluidized-bed reactors due to vigorous gas-solids contacting, high solids hold-ups (typically 25-35% by volume), and limited axial mixing of gas as mentioned in this paper.
