Erosion of mud/sand mixtures

TLDR
In this article, the authors investigated the relationship between the erosional properties of combined mud and sand sediments, and found that adding sand to mud, or vice versa, increases the erosion resistance and reduces the erosion rates when the critical shear stress for erosion is exceeded.

Erodibility of cohesive sediment: The importance of sediment properties

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive view of the physical, geochemical and biological properties that influence the erodibility of cohesive sediment is presented. But, the authors emphasize the need for more comparable field and laboratory data to provide the background for a discussion on how changes in and interactions between the properties generate significant spatial and temporal variations in erosion.

Sediment erodability in sediment transport modelling: Can we account for biota effects?

TL;DR: Waeles et al. as discussed by the authors used a morphodynamic model of an intertidal mudflat to evaluate the effect of microphytobenthic diatoms on sediment erodability.

A conceptual framework for the erosion behaviour of sand-mud mixtures

TL;DR: In this article, a conceptual framework for the erosion behaviour of sand-mud mixtures is proposed and validated with data from field and laboratory experiments based on appropriate parameters for cohesion and network structure.

The stability of tidal flats in Venice Lagoon—the results of in-situ measurements using two benthic, annular flumes

TL;DR: In this article, two benthic annular flumes (Sea Carousel and Mini Flume) were deployed simultaneously from a floating pontoon at 24 sites during summer 1998, which were considered representative of the range in bed/habitat types.

Beds comprising debrite sandwiched within co-genetic turbidite: origin and widespread occurrence in distal depositional environments

TL;DR: Co-genetic debrite-turbidite beds occur in a variety of modern and ancient turbidite systems as discussed by the authors, and they are distinctive in their basic character.

Threshold of sediment motion under unidirectional currents

TL;DR: In this paper, a modified Shields-type threshold diagram is presented for sediment movement under unidirectional flow conditions, which extends the limits of the original diagram by three orders of magnitude in the grain-Reynolds number.
