Analytical models to estimate the structural behaviour of fused deposition modelling components

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the capability and performance of analytical models to predict the structural mechanical behaviour of parts fabricated by fused deposition modeling (FDM), and compared the structural properties predicted by these models with the experimental results obtained from tensile tests on FDM specimens fabricated with variable infill percentage, perimeter layers and build orientation.

Effect of processing conditions on the bonding quality of FDM polymer filaments

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the mechanisms controlling the bond formation among extruded polymer filaments in the fused deposition modeling (FDM) process and showed that the bonding phenomenon is thermally driven and ultimately determines the integrity and mechanical properties of the resultant prototypes.
