Evaluation of Health Risks from Exposure to Low Levels of Ionizing Radiation in Some Oil Spilled Communities of Rivers State, Nigeria

TL;DR: The estimated excess lifetime cancer risk values indicates that the chance of contracting cancer for residents of the study is low, the effective dose from present exposure rate to the adult organs investigated is insignificant and the risk from exposure to low levels of background ionizing radiation is insignificant.

Radiometric and petrographic characterization of sediment samples collected from Jhelum, Neelum and Kunhar Rivers of Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir

TL;DR: In this article, the gamma activity concentrations due to 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K were determined using high-purity germanium detector (HPGe) using sediment samples collected from the river banks of Jhelum, Neelum, and Kunhar confluencing.

sources and effects of ionizing radiation

TL;DR: This annex is aimed at providing a sound basis for conclusions regarding the number of significant radiation accidents that have occurred, the corresponding levels of radiation exposures and numbers of deaths and injuries, and the general trends for various practices, in the context of the Committee's overall evaluations of the levels and effects of exposure to ionizing radiation.

Radionuclide concentrations in soil and lifetime cancer risk due to gamma radioactivity in Kirklareli, Turkey.

TL;DR: The average soil radionuclides' concentrations of Kirklareli were within the worldwide range although some extreme values had been determined, and annual effective gamma doses and the excess lifetime risks of cancer were higher than the world's average.
