Experimental study on simulated molten jet-coolant interactions

TLDR
In this paper, the safety of liquid-metal-cooled fast breeder reactors (LMFBRs) was studied with respect to fuel-coolant interactions in a jet contact mode and it was concluded that energetic jet-water interactions are only possible under relatively narrow initial thermal conditions.

A scenario of core disruptive accident for Japan sodium-cooled fast reactor to achieve in-vessel retention

TL;DR: In this article, the safety design requirements of the advanced loop-type fast reactor, so-called JSFR, are the prevention of severe accidents and the mitigation of severe-accident consequences.

Experimental and computational investigation of LBE–water interaction in LIFUS 5 facility

TL;DR: The interaction between heavy liquid metal, such as LBE, and pressurized water has been analyzed at ENEA Brasimone Research Centre, in order to investigate the evolution of this phenomenon over a wide range of conditions as mentioned in this paper.

Galinstan liquid metal breakup and droplet formation in a shock-induced cross-flow

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of higher density and fast elastic surface oxide formation on column breakup morphology and droplet characteristics of liquid metals is investigated. But, the analysis of column breakup of water with Galinstan, a room-temperature eutectic liquid metal alloy of gallium, indium and tin, is not well studied.

On the fragmentation characteristics of melt jets quenched in water

TL;DR: In this article, the characteristics of jet breakup and debris formation after melt jets fall into a subcooled water pool, which may occur in industrial processes such as nuclear power plants, were investigated.

Evaluation of a Steam Generator Tube Rupture Accident in an Accelerator Driven System with Lead Cooling

TL;DR: In this article, a postulated steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) accident in a lead cooled accelerator driven transmuter (ADT) is investigated, where the design of the ADT without intermediate loops bears the risk of water/steam blasting into the primary coolant.
