Fullerene triplet state production and decay: R2PI probes of C60 and C70 in a supersonic beam

TLDR
In this paper, the lifetime of the lowest triplet state of the two most stable fullerenes, C 60 and C 70, was measured in a supersonic beam by two-color resonant two-photon ionization.

Ultraviolet photoelectron spectra of coinage metal clusters

TL;DR: In this paper, the vertical electron affinity (EA) of negative clusters of copper (1 −411 atoms), silver ( 1 −60 atoms), and gold (1−233 atoms) was estimated using photodetachment lasers at 6.4 and 7.9 eV photon energy.

On the Electronic and Atomic Structures of Small AuN- (N = 4−14) Clusters: A Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Density-Functional Study

TL;DR: In this article, a joint experimental and theoretical study of the electronic and atomic structures of small gold clusters with up to 14 atoms was performed, where the authors obtained well-resolved photoelectron spectra for AuN- (N = 1−14) at several photon energies.

Uranium Stabilization of C28: A Tetravalent Fullerene

TL;DR: Stable closed-shell derivatives of C28 with large highest occupied molecular orbital—lowest unoccupied molecular orbital gaps should be attainable either by reacting at the four tetrahedral vertices on the outside of the C28 cage to make, for example, C28H4, or by trapping a tetravalent atom inside the cage toMake endothedral fullerenes such as Ti@C28.

Threshold photodetachment of cold C−60

TL;DR: In this paper, the threshold behavior of the detachment cross section as a function of energy was found to be well described by Wigner's threshold law plus a dominating polarization term, and the electron affinity of C 60 was measured to be 2.650±0.050 eV.

Photophysical properties of C60

TL;DR: A number of important photophysical properties of C{sub 60} have been determined, including its lowest triplet state energy (near 33 kcal/mol), lifetime, and triplet-triplet absorption spectrum as mentioned in this paper.

Production and characterization of supersonic carbon cluster beams

TL;DR: In this paper, a supersonic beam of carbon clusters is generated using graphite as the substrate, and carbon clusters Cn for n=1−190 have been produced having a distinctly bimodal cluster size distribution: (i) both even and odd clusters for Cn, 1≤n≤30; and (ii) only even clusters C2n, 20−n−90.

Laser production of supersonic metal cluster beams

TL;DR: In this paper, cold beams of metal clusters are produced by combining a laser vaporization technique with pulsed supersonic nozzle technology, and the results show that the resulting cold beams are more stable than those of traditional laser-based methods.

Characterization of the soluble all-carbon molecules C60 and C70

TL;DR: In this paper, the physical and chemical characterization of two new molecular forms of carbon, C{sub 60} and C {sub 70} were reported. But the results demonstrate a high yield of production (14%) under optimized conditions and reveal only C{ sub 60 and Csub 70 in measurable quantity, in an 85:15 ratio.
