Fatty-acid distribution in the lipid fractions of healthy persons of different age, patients with atherosclerosis and patients with idiopathic hyperlipidaemia*
W. Schrade,R. Biegler,E. Böhle +2 more
TL;DR: In cases of hypercholesterolaemia, hyperphospholipidaemia and hyperglyceridaemia there appear in the serum additional esters which contain more saturated and mono-unsaturated and fewer polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of chain length and degree of unsaturation on plasma free fatty acid uptake by the perfused rat liver.
TL;DR: It is suggested that the rate of fractional uptake of the individual free fatty acids depends less on the selectivity of absorption to the cellular membrane than on the relative affinity of theindividual fatty acids for the binding sites on the albumin molecule.
Journal ArticleDOI
The mobilization of free fatty acids in relation to adipose tissue triglyceride fatty acids in the rat.
TL;DR: It was found in both in vivo and in vitro studies that lauric acid appeared to be less easily mobilized than longer chain acids, and the possibility remains that the difference is due to some specificity of tissue lipases for certain ester linkages.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation and micro-estimation of volatile fatty acids from formic acid to dodecanoic acid
A. T. James,A. J. P. Martin +1 more
TL;DR: Modifications necessary to the theory of Martin & Synge (1941) to allow for the compressibility of the mobile phase are presented and the application of the gas-liquid partition chromatogram to the separation of volatile fatty acids is described.
