A single-step reaction of nitrobenzene into para-aminophenol was carried out in the gas phase using metal-supported zeolite as a bi-functional catalyst as discussed by the authors.Abstract:
A single-step reaction of nitrobenzene into para-aminophenol was carried out in the gas phase using metal-supported zeolite as a bi-functional catalyst. A significant amount of para-aminophenol was produced with aniline and ortho-aminophenol without using any environmentally undesirable liquid acid. For the selective formation of para-aminophenol, Pt supported on H-ZSM-5 was the best combination of metal and acid catalysts. The selectivity to para-aminophenol depended greatly on the Al concentration of H-ZSM-5; that is, HZSM-5 with intermediate Al concentration gave the highest selectivity. Pt particles on H-ZSM-5 were characterized by the measurements of adsorbed CO, TEM and IR spectra.read more

Acid-Resistant Catalysis without Use of Noble Metals: Carbon Nitride with Underlying Nickel
TL;DR: In this paper, a nanocomposite able to function as a hydrogenation catalyst under strongly acidic conditions without the presence of noble metals is synthesized and thoroughly studied, which possesses a unique structure composed of carbon nitride (CN) with underlying nickel, in which the nickel endows the CN with new active sites for hydrogen adsorption and activation while it itself is physically isolated from the reactive environment.

Platinum supported on activated carbon cloths as catalyst for nitrobenzene hydrogenation
TL;DR: In this article, the use of activated carbon cloth (ACC) as platinum catalyst support has been investigated using four commercial ACC samples, and the results show good dispersion values and present two singular advantages over published data on granular activated carbon supports: (i) they have a remarkable ease of reduction; the reduction of Pt is almost complete at 393 K and they have proved to be stable at temperatures as high as 623 K and after long reduction time (12 h).
