In this paper, a solution of the two-dimensional potential problem associated with harmonic oscillations of a twin-hull body in a free surface is presented, which can be used as a guidance to estimate the hydrodynamic characteristics of catamarans.
Abstract
This paper presents a solution of the two-dimensional potential problem associated with harmonic oscillations of a twin-hull body in a free surface. The body considered has two identical, rigidly connected, circular cylindrical hulls, semisubmerged, performing small vertical oscillations. Results of the added-mass and damping coefficients are presented as functions of the oscillation frequency. Data presented can be used as a guidance to estimate the hydrodynamic characteristics of catamarans.

Interactions among multiple three-dimensional bodies in water waves: an exact algebraic method

TL;DR: In this article, an interaction theory is developed which solves the complete problem, predicting wave exciting forces, hydrodynamic coefficients and second-order drift forces, but is based algebraically on the diffraction characteristics of single members.

Interaction of water waves with two closely spaced vertical obstacles

TL;DR: In this article, an asymptotic theory for the resulting wave reflexion and transmission is developed, assuming that the separation between the plates is small, and it is shown that the reflexion coefficients undergo rapid changes, ranging from complete reflexion to complete transmission, in the vicinity of a critical wavenumber where the fluid column between the obstacles is resonant.

The occurrence of negative added mass in free-surface problems involving submerged oscillating bodies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied negative added mass by considering the heave oscillations of a submerged vertical cylinder and found that free-surface effects are important for the occurrence of negative added masses.

On Helmholtz and higher-order resonance of twin floating bodies

TL;DR: Yeung et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the hydrodynamic behavior around the Helmholtz mode and other symmetric modes of resonance of a moonpool between two heaving rectangular floating cylinders.

Wave forces on adjacent floating bridges

TL;DR: In this article, the enhancement of wave forces due to interaction effects is considered for the case of two adjacent, parallel, floating bridges, and the problem is considered from a theoretical viewpoint using the linearised theory of water waves.
