Input and output in damped quantum systems. II. Methods in non-white-noise situations and application to inhibition of atomic phase decays

TLDR
In this article, a near-white-noise input-output formalism was developed that does not require white noise assumptions and correlation formulas for outputs were developed, which enables account to be taken of reflections of near white noise inputs, and applied to the inhibition of atomic phase decays by squeezed light from a degenerate parametric amplifier incident upon a two-level atom.
Abstract
A near-white-noise input–output formalism is developed that does not require white-noise assumptions. In particular, correlation formulas for outputs are developed, which enables account to be taken of reflections of near-white-noise inputs. The methods are applied to the inhibition of atomic phase decays by squeezed light from a degenerate parametric amplifier incident upon a two-level atom, and modifications from previous work carried out in the extreme-white-noise limit are computed.

Observation of squeezed states generated by four-wave mixing in an optical cavity

TL;DR: Squeezed states of the electromagnetic field have been generated by nondegenerate four-wave mixing due to Na atoms in an optical cavity by measuring the total noise level in the deamplified quadrature below the vacuum noise level.

Sub-Poissonian processes in quantum optics

TL;DR: In this article, a review of methods for generating sub-Poissonian light and related concepts is presented. But the authors focus on the conceptual foundations and developments in laser theory that lead to the possibility, already demonstrated experimentally, of linewidth narrowing and sub-poissonic light generation in lasers and masers.

Nonstationary Casimir effect and analytical solutions for quantum fields in cavities with moving boundaries

TL;DR: In this article, a review of publications on classical and quantum electrodynamics in cavities with moving boundaries is presented, with an emphasis on analytical results related to cavities having resonantly oscillating boundaries.

Resonance Fluorescence from an Artificial Atom in Squeezed Vacuum

TL;DR: By bathing a superconducting qubit in squeezed light, this article was able to confirm a decades-old prediction for the resulting phase-dependent spectrum of resonance fluorescence, which showed that the qubit's superconductivity is positively correlated with its phase.

Input and output in damped quantum systems: Quantum stochastic differential equations and the master equation.

TL;DR: A formulation of quantum damping theory is developed in which the explicit nature of inputs from a heat bath, and of outputs into it, is taken into account, and the formal relationship between quantum Langevin equations and quantum stochastic differential equations (SDE's) is established.

Observation of squeezed states generated by four-wave mixing in an optical cavity.

TL;DR: In this paper, a balanced homodyne detector was used to measure the optical noise in the cavity, comprised of primarily vacuum fluctuations and a small component of spontaneous emission from the pumped Na atoms.

Generation of Squeezed States by Parametric Down Conversion

TL;DR: A quantitative comparison with theory suggests that the observed squeezing results from a field that in the absence of linear attenuation would be squeezed by greater then tenfold.

Squeezing of intracavity and traveling-wave light fields produced in parametric amplification

TL;DR: In this paper, a general input-output theory for quantum dissipative systems is developed in which it is possible to relate output to input via the internal dynamics of a system, which is applied to the problem of computing the squeezing produced by a degenerate parametric amplifier located inside a cavity.
