Global arable land transfers embodied in Mainland China’s foreign trade

TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-regional input-output analysis of Mainland China's arable land use issues is presented, showing that the trade volume of China's embodied land transfers embodied in foreign trade is revealed in magnitude up to 70% of its direct arable area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulating changes in forest recreation demand and associated economic impacts due to fire and fuels management activities

TL;DR: In this article, the linkages from fire and fuels management activities to changes in forest recreation demand and ultimately to regional economic impacts is analyzed. Butts et al. used available survey data collected in New Mexico ( United States) during the summer of 2001, and developed a pooled travel cost and contingent behavior model of forest recreationdemand.
Journal ArticleDOI

Substance flows through the economy and environment of a region : Part II: Modelling.

TL;DR: The Substance Flow Analysis (SFA) method and its software tool SFINX are presented and three modelling techniques and their possibilities and limitations are discussed: Bookkeeping, static modelling, and dynamic modelling.

The evolving geography of production hubs and regional value chains across East Asia: Trade in value-added

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors adopt input-output techniques to analyze the evolution of production networks in East Asia over the period 1990-2005 from a value chain perspective, and report a high density of cross-border interaction alongside changing geographic dynamics, and an informal integration derived from intermediates trade in value-addition.

Interregional transfer of polluting industries: a consumption responsibility perspective

TL;DR: In this paper, a pollution intensity index is calculated which considers industrial waste emissions of solids, liquids, and gases to avoid the difficulty in confirming overall masses of each kind of pollution when trying to aggregate different pollution indices, and then measure the transfer of these polluting industries among the eight regions of China with the help of an input-output model and interregional inputoutput tables to analyse the polluting industrial transfer trends from 1997 to 2007 in China.
