TLDR
The effect of cation valency on the value of equivalent counterion supply at maximum exchange has been discussed for zeolites NaA, NaX and NaY in this paper, and it has been suggested that the valency dependence of diffusion was much stronger in the zeolite than in the solution.

Intermediate-Stage Alkaline Earth Ion Exchange in Zeolites X and Y

TL;DR: In this article, the saturation levels of exchange of alkaline earth ions M2+ (Ba2+, Ca2+, Mg2+) in zeolites NaX (SiO2/A12O3 2.75) and NaY(SiO 2/Al2O3 4.33) at intermediate stages before equilibrium were found to be dependent on a critical value of the equivalent counterion supply in the solution, given by 2M2+/Na+.

Intermediate-stage transition metal ion exchange in a zeolite X

TL;DR: In this paper, the exchange behavior of divalent transition metal ions M2+ (Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Mn2+) in a zeolite NaX (SiO2/Al2O3 2.75) was studied at intermediate stages before equilibrium.
