Investigation of the Space Distribution of the Velocity of Surface Acoustic Waves in Plastically Deformed Steel by the Laser Method

TLDR
In this article, the influence of plastic deformation of St.3 steel on the velocity of Rayleigh surface acoustic waves measured by the method of laser recording was studied, showing that plastic strains lead to the formation of anisotropy of the acoustic properties mainly determined, according to the data of evaluation of residual mechanical stresses, by the texture of steel.
Abstract
We study the influence of plastic deformation of St.3 steel on the velocity of Rayleigh surface acoustic waves measured by the method of laser recording. It is shown that plastic strains lead to the formation of anisotropy of the acoustic properties mainly determined, according to the data of evaluation of residual mechanical stresses, by the texture of steel.

Optical Detection of Ultrasound

TL;DR: A review of the various optical methods to detect ultrasound at the surface of opaque solids is presented, including description of knife-edge techniques, optical heterodyning, differential interferometry, and velocity (time-delay) interferometer methods.

A detailed analysis of the optical beam deflection technique for use in atomic force microscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, a Michelson interferometer and an optical beam deflection configuration (both shot noise and diffraction limited) are compared for application in an atomic force microscope.

Measurements of debris flow velocity through cross-correlation of instrumentation data

TL;DR: In this paper, a pair of ultrasonic sensors placed at a known distance from each other along a torrent have been used as a method to obtain mean front velocity of debris-flows, in addition to their use as detectors of debris flow occurrence.

Laser ultrasonic diagnostics of residual stress.

TL;DR: This technique was used for measuring of plane residual stress in welds and for in-depth testing of subsurface residual stresses in metals and the results are in good agreement with the laser ultrasonic method.
