TLDR
In this paper , a pull-off adhesion testing method was adopted to separate the corrosion products for weathering steel layer-by-layer, and the Ni element makes the rust layer compact, improves the adhesion strength, and forms a physical barrier.

Progress in corrosion and anti-corrosion measures of phase change materials in thermal storage and management systems

TL;DR: In this article , the phase change materials (PCMs) are used in thermal storage and management systems because of their high energy storage density and comprehensive phase change temperature range, and the compatibility of PCMs is critical because PCMs are usually encapsulated in the vessel.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of outer rust layer on cathodic protection and corrosion behavior of high-strength wire hangers with sheath crack in marine rainfall environment

TL;DR: In this paper , the influence of the outer rust layer on the impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) and the corrosion behavior of hanger steel wires are analyzed by SEM and XRD.

Raman microspectroscopy of some iron oxides and oxyhydroxides

TL;DR: In this paper, the laser power dependence of the spectra of oxides and oxyhydroxides was investigated by using Raman microscopy, and it was shown that increasing laser power causes the characteristic bands of hematite to show up in the spectrum of most of the compounds studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composition and protective ability of rust layer formed on weathering steel exposed to various environments

TL;DR: The compositional change of rust (corrosion products) layer formed on weathering steel exposed to atmosphere with different amount of air-borne sea salt particles in Japan have been investigated by the X-ray diffraction method as mentioned in this paper.

Atmospheric corrosion data of weathering steels. A review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a bibliographic review of the reported information, which mostly concerns the weathering steel ASTM A-242, and address issues such as rust layer stabilisation times, steady-state steel corrosion rates, and situations where the use of unpainted steel is feasible.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the formation of β-FeOOH (akaganéite) in chloride-containing environments

TL;DR: In this paper, the conditions for the formation of akaganeite were investigated using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectrograms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman imaging of ancient rust scales on archaeological iron artefacts for long-term atmospheric corrosion mechanisms study

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Raman spectroscopy and the acquisition of hyperspectral images of the corrosion scales, several zones of the samples observed on cross sections could be characterised.
