Addressing difficulties in using XRD intensity for structural study of thin films

TL;DR: In this article, the problem of structure investigation of thin films using laboratory XRD diffraction intensities was discussed as a matter of debate Is the variation in relative intensities of the diffraction patterns due to crystallographic preferred orientation, lattice defects or both?

On the determination of a lattice contraction in very small silver particles

TL;DR: In this paper, the lattice contraction of very small silver particles (30 A to 178 A) was determined as a function of average particle size by insitu electron microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lattice parameter, microstrains and non-stoichiometry in NiO. Comparison between mosaic microcrystals and quasi-perfect single microcrystals

TL;DR: In this paper, a double point of view of mean lattice parameter variation (uniform strain) and lattice microstrains (non-uniform) was compared from the double point-of-view.
Journal ArticleDOI

The dependence of the surface energy of regular clusters and small crystallites on the particle size

TL;DR: In this article, the size dependence of icosahedral and cuboctahedral clusters of noble gases considering interactions only with next neighbours is analyzed and it is shown that the character of the dependence is dominated by the choice of the position of the dividing surface.
