Making transfer happen: an action perspective on learning transfer systems

Abstract
This introductory chapter suggests that researchers studying the transfer of learning have not focused closely enough on improvements in transfer and that it is time for action-oriented strategies. The chapter emphasises that transfer systems need to be analysed and improved and attempts to identify which parts of the transfer gap are addressed by various interventions.
