Metabolism of all-trans-retinyl acetate to retinoic acid in hamster tracheal organ culture.
TLDR
Further in vitro metabolism of [3H]retinyl acetate paralleled the metabolism of [/14C]retinoic acid suggesting that these two compounds are being metabolized through similar pathways.About:

All-trans-retinoic acid: measurement of reference values in human serum by high performance liquid chromatography.
TL;DR: A quantitative determination of physiological levels of all-trans-retinoic acid (vitamin A acid) in human serum has been developed and fitted a normal-Gaussian distributional shape with a mean value of 3.5 ng/ml and SD of 0.4 ng/ ml by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test.

TL;DR: These new retinoids should be useful agents for experimental studies of both cancer prevention and treatment, as well as for investigation of the mechanism of action of retinoid in the control of cell differentiation.

TL;DR: Local metabolism supports the hypothesis that retinoids are local chemical mediators involved in pattern formation and could provide a simple mechanism to generate in a controlled fashion the biologically active all-trans-retinoic acid from its abundant biosynthetic precursor retinol.

TL;DR: The data lead to propose that retinol does not induce differentiation of EC cells in vitro via conversion to retinoic acid, and the relatively rapid metabolism of retinoi acid by EC cells suggests either that the induction of differentiation need involve only a transient exposure to this retinoid or that one or more of the retinoIC acid metabolites can also promote differentiation.

TL;DR: Two metabolites produced in a cell-free liver incubation reaction also migrate on a high-pressure liquid chromatography column together with metabolites isolated from a tracheal organ culture system both in ultraviolet absorption and mass spectral characteristics and in migration rates on two different reverse-phase high- pressure liquid chromatographic systems.
