TLDR
In this article, an actinomycetes, Nocardioides sp has been isolated from soil by enrichment culture technigue for the biodegradation of heterocyclic sulfur compound, dibenzothiophene (DBT).Abstract:
The atmospheric sulfur pollution is one of the major problem world is facing today. Combustion of low quality fossil fuels emitt sulfur dioxide gas. Precombustion desulfurization of fuels is a solution for reduction of atmospheric sulfur pollution. An actinomycetes, Nocardioides sp has been isolated from soil by enrichment culture technigue for the biodegradation of heterocyclic sulfur compound, dibenzothiophene (DBT). Resting cell suspension can degrade DBT with the release of sulfate. The investigation on DBT degradation by Nocardioidea has shown that the organism has got the potential for deaulfurization of petroleum crude.read more

Sulfur from benzothiophene and alkylbenzothiophenes supports growth of Rhodococcus sp. strain JVH1
TL;DR: JVH1 is the first microorganism reported to use all six isomers of methylbenzothiophene, as well as some dimethylbenzothsiophene isomers, as sole sulfur sources, and possesses broader sulfur extraction abilities than previously reported, including not only sulfidic compounds but also some thiophenic species.

Biodegradation of benzothiophene sulfones by a filamentous bacterium
TL;DR: A filamentous bacterium was isolated, which grew on each of these three sulfones as its sole carbon, sulfur, and energy source, and did not oxidize the latter three compounds to their sulfones.

Diluted conventional media improve the microbial cultivability from aquarium seawater.
TL;DR: Data provide strong evidence that dilution of CM influences the cultivability of bacteria from aquaculture seawater and supports that DM can expand the range of microbial species that can be cultivated.

Desulfurization of dibenzothiophene by Corynebacterium sp. strain SY1
TL;DR: A new DBT degradation pathway is proposed on the basis of results obtained in strain SY1, which metabolized DBT to dibenzothiophene-5-oxide, DBT sulfone, and 2-hydroxybiphenyl, which was subsequently nitrated to produce at least two different hydroxynitrobipenyls during cultivation.
