TLDR
In this paper, the authors apply additive mixed modelling on phyoplankton time series data and show that the additive model can be used to estimate the age distribution of small cetaceans.
Abstract
Limitations of linear regression applied on ecological data. - Things are not always linear additive modelling. - Dealing with hetergeneity. - Mixed modelling for nested data. - Violation of independence - temporal data. - Violation of independence spatial data. - Generalised linear modelling and generalised additive modelling. - Generalised estimation equations. - GLMM and GAMM. - Estimating trends for Antarctic birds in relation to climate change. - Large-scale impacts of land-use change in a Scottish farming catchment. - Negative binomial GAM and GAMM to analyse amphibian road killings. - Additive mixed modelling applied on deep-sea plagic bioluminescent organisms. - Additive mixed modelling applied on phyoplankton time series data. - Mixed modelling applied on American Fouldbrood affecting honey bees larvae. - Three-way nested data for age determination techniques applied to small cetaceans. - GLMM applied on the spatial distribution of koalas in a fragmented landscape. - GEE and GLMM applied on binomial Badger activity data.

The influence of time, soil characteristics, and land‐use history on soil phosphorus legacies: a global meta‐analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors synthesized data from 94 published studies to assess evidence of these land-use legacies throughout the world by comparing soil labile and total P content in abandoned agricultural areas to that of reference ecosystems or sites remaining in agriculture.

Influence of multi-scale landscape structure on the occurrence of carnivorous mammals in a human-modified savanna, Brazil

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated how medium and large carnivores use a mosaic landscape of forest/savanna and agroecosystems, and how the species respond to different landscape parameters (percentage of land cover and edge density), in a multi-scale perspective.

Pollinating animals in the urban environment

TL;DR: It is shown that plant diversity and floral abundance in urban environments promote pollinating flower visitors and the extent of green area and edge density are important urban mosaic attributes that affect pollinator abundance and visitation frequency at multiple scales.

Are personality differences in a small iteroparous mammal maintained by a life-history trade-off?

TL;DR: Predictions of one main life-history hypothesis, which posits that consistent individual differences in behaviour are favoured by a trade-off between current and future reproduction, are tested to provide empirical support of this life- History Trade-off hypothesis.

Spatial and temporal interactions between livestock and wildlife in South Central Spain assessed by camera traps.

TL;DR: Water points are a hotspot for indirect interactions and might therefore be a source of infection at the wildlife-livestock interface in the territory covered, particularly for M. bovis, as it is around water where the bacteria seem to survive the longest.
