Chloroplastrps16 intron phylogeny of the tribeSileneae (Caryophyllaceae)
TL;DR: The joint usage ofrps16 intron and ITS sequences provides a powerful tool for resolving many of the difficult taxonomic issues in the tribeSileneae.
Journal ArticleDOI
From representation to persistence: requirements for a sustainable system of conservation areas in the species‐rich mediterranean‐climate desert of southern Africa
TL;DR: Conservation planning has hitherto both representation and design, and indicate the location, size and role in conservation of the spatial environment as discussed by the authors, and the importance of spatial information in the planning process.
Journal ArticleDOI
The phylogeny of rosoideae (rosaceae) based on sequences of the internal transcribed spacers (its) of nuclear ribosomal dna and the trnl/f region of chloroplast dna
TL;DR: The phylogeny of Rosoideae was investigated using 44 species using new sequence data from the chloroplast trnL/F region as well as an increased sample of species, and the monophyly of both Potentilleae and Sanguisorbeae is well supported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of experimental floods on periphyton and stream metabolism below a high dam in the Swiss Alps (River Spöl)
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of an experimental flood regime on periphyton and stream metabolism downstream of a large reservoir were investigated and the results indicated that the new flow regime increased ecosystem dynamics, but it may take several years until the autotrophic energy base becomes adapted to the new and more dynamic flow regime.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flow cytometric and Feulgen densitometric analysis of genome size variation in Pisum.

TL;DR: Findings were not based on genuine differences, but rather were technical in origin, and may indicate taxonomic inhomogeneity and demands further investigation.
