New Trends in Measuring Environmental Attitudes: Measuring Endorsement of the New Ecological Paradigm: A Revised NEP Scale
TLDR
The New Ecological Paradigm Scale (NEP) as mentioned in this paper is an improved version of the original NEP Scale, which has been used widely for measuring pro-environmental orientation.Abstract:
Dunlap and Van Liere's New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) Scale, published in 1978, has become a widely used measure of proenvironmental orientation. This article develops a revised NEP Scale designed to improve upon the original one in several respects: (1) It taps a wider range of facets of an ecological worldview, (2) It offers a balanced set of pro- and anti-NEP items, and (3) It avoids outmoded terminology. The new scale, termed the New Ecological Paradigm Scale, consists of 15 items. Results of a 1990 Washington State survey suggest that the items can be treated as an internally consistent summated ratingscale and also indicate a modest growth in pro-NEP responses among Washington residents over the 14 years since the original study.read more

Encouraging pro-environmental behaviour : An integrative review and research agenda
Linda Steg,Charles Vlek +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the contribution and potential of environmental psychology for understanding and promoting pro-environmental behaviour is discussed. But, the authors focus on four main factors underlying human behaviour patterns: identification of the behaviour to be changed, examination of the main factors behind this behaviour, design and application of interventions to change behaviour to reduce environmental impact, and evaluation of the effects of interventions.

The connectedness to nature scale: A measure of individuals’ feeling in community with nature ☆
TL;DR: The connectedness to nature scale (CNS) as mentioned in this paper is a new measure of individuals' trait levels of feeling emotionally connected to the natural world, which has good psychometric properties, correlates with related variables, and is uncorrelated with potential confounds (verbal ability, social desirability).

New Ways of Thinking about Environmentalism: Elaborating on Gender Differences in Environmentalism
TL;DR: A review of recent research (1988 to 1998) on gender differences in environmental attitudes and behaviors found that, contrary to past inconsistencies, a clearer picture has emerged: women report stronger environmental attitudes than men as mentioned in this paper.
