Effects of Sigma Phase on the Initiation and Propagation of Pitting Corrosion of Duplex Stainless Steel, January 2005

C.J. Park, +2 more
- 01 Jan 2005 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of σ phase on the initiation and propagation of pitting corrosion of duplex stainless steel was examined using critical pitting temperature (CPT) and electrochemical noise measurements in a ferric chloride solution, and the results were discussed with microstructural variations with aging time.

Precipitation of sigma phase in duplex stainless steel and recent development on its detection by electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation:A review

TL;DR: In this article, the precipitation behavior of sigma (σ) phase in the ferritic/austenitic duplex steel (DSS) results in the deterioration of mechanical intensity and corrosion resistance.

Effect of the nanostructuring by high-pressure torsion process on the secondary phase precipitation in UNS S32750 Superduplex stainless steel

TL;DR: In this paper , the precipitation and morphology of secondary phases after severe plastic deformation (SPD) processing followed by an isothermal treatment was investigated, and the results provided evidence that the precipitation of chromium nitrides seems to be the preferred nucleation site for sigma phase at higher deformation strain, in addition to the intergranular precipitation of sigma.

Characteristics and Manufacturability of Duplex Stainless Steel: A Review

TL;DR: In this paper, the characteristics and manufacturability of duplex stainless steels (DSS) including recent developments have been reviewed, and the challenges of DSS remain in the embrittlement phase formation during the manufacturing of highly alloyed DSS, hot cracking and formability of the steel.
