Journal ArticleDOI
Intraspecies aggression in rats: effects of d-amphetamine and chlordiazepoxide.
TL;DR: The results indicate that amphetamine and chlordiazepoxide can facilitate or inhibit attack or defense depending on the dose level and which of the opponents was injected, but do not reverse dominance-subordination relationships.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparison of the hard ASCA spectral slopes of broad- and narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the currently available ASCA data to systematically compare the harder (approximately 2-10 keV) X-ray continua of soft ROSAT narrow-line Seyfert 1s with those of Seylfert 1 with larger H-beta FWHM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of Thromboxane Biosynthesis and Platelet Function by Simvastatin in Type IIa Hypercholesterolemia
Alberto Notarbartolo,Giovanni Davì,Maurizio Averna,Carlo M. Barbagallo,A. Ganci,Carlo Giammarresi,Francesco P. La Placa,Carlo Patrono +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that enhanced TXA2 biosynthesis in type IIa hypercholesterolemia is, at least in part, dependent on abnormal cholesterol levels and/or other simvastatin-sensitive mechanisms affecting platelet function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spontaneous sign systems created by deaf children in two cultures
TL;DR: Deaf children whose access to usable conventional linguistic input, signed or spoken, is severely limited nevertheless use gesture to communicate, and the robustness of this phenomenon is explored by observing deaf children of hearing parents in two cultures, an American and a Chinese culture, that differ in their child-rearing practices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prehypertension, Diabetes, and Cardiovascular Disease Risk in a Population-Based Sample The Strong Heart Study
Ying Zhang,Elisa T. Lee,Richard B. Devereux,Jeunliang Yeh,Lyle G. Best,Richard R. Fabsitz,Barbara V. Howard +6 more
TL;DR: Clinical investigation of more aggressive interventions, such as drug treatment for blood pressure control for prehypertensive individuals with impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, or diabetes is warranted.
