TLDR
Within this consideration, the formal question arises, how to decide whether or not an observed G index is significantly different from an expectation of zero under the null hypothesis.
Abstract
it is the difference between the frequencies of the homonymly assigned cells (++ and --) and the heteronymly assigned cells (+and ―+) in a four-fold contingency table. This name seems to be more descriptive than the name Index of agreement, which is restricting the index to the cases of agreement between placements. Whether or not such an index is more adequate in describing the relationship between two characteristics in N individuals or between two persons on n items than is the phi or the tetrachoric correlation coefficient (c.f., Cliff, 1962; Holley, 1964) is a matter of methodological consideration. Within this consideration, the formal question arises, how to decide whether or not an observed G index is significantly different from an expectation of zero under the null hypothesis.

[Psychiatric classification by means of a discriminatory application of Q factor analysis (author's transl)].

TL;DR: An attempt is made to separate different pairs of psychiatric patient groups by means of a modified form of Q factor analysis comparable to discriminant analysis, which improved by a criterion-related additional rotation.

Point symmetry adjustment of phi-coefficients in the factor analysis of psychometric test items

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the Holley-Guilford G-index of association may be interpreted logically as a coefficient of correlation between two binary items, dichotomised at the median of their underlying continua, following a point symmetry adjustment.

Validation of the Teacher's Assessment of Students' Aptitudes Form--TASAF.

TL;DR: In this paper, the validity coefficient of ratings by teachers of the standings of their students on each of 11 aptitude factors on the Teacher's Assessment of Students' Aptitudes Form (TASAF) was determined relative to criterion scores (unknown to the teachers).

Operational interpretations for the G and Gm indexes of agreement

TL;DR: In this article, Holley and Guilford's G index of agreement and Holley-Lienert's Gm index have been interpreted as PIA and PRE, respectively.

Patient self-report vs. examiner assessment of TMJ symptoms: stability of correspondence rates during treatment.

TL;DR: Results showed that correlations between self-report of TMJ symptoms and clinical examination findings were generally high, both at initial assessment and at follow up, demonstrating support for using self- Report measures ofTMJ symptoms to help monitor treatment progress.

The log likelihood ratio test (the g-test)

TL;DR: The theoretical basis of the log likelihood ratio test (the G‐test) is described, and instructions and tables are given for its use as a test of heterogeneity in contingency tables.
