TLDR
Accounting for opportunity cost is extended to the online leasing strategy for depreciable equipment and shows that a smaller competitive ratio can be obtained when considering opportunity cost, which illustrates that the introduction of the opportunity cost has a significant influence on both the deterministic and randomized strategies.

Competitive Analysis of the Online Leasing Problem for Scarce Resources

TL;DR: In this article , an online leasing model based on the characteristics of scarce resources in which the resource might have a sudden price surge, and the length of its usage time cannot be known in advance was proposed.

Optimization of Property Tax Deductions for Railway Transport Organizations Based on Russian Railways JSC Example

TL;DR: In this article , the authors deal with argent problem of reducing the enterprises expenses by optimization the quantity and structure in part of expenses that are not directly related to production activities, and the benefits of using a nonlinear depreciation method are shown especially.

Influence of the depreciation method on the wood transport cost

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the influence of four depreciation methods on the cost of forest road transportation, including Caires, Exponential, Linear and Cole methods, and found that the lower values of depreciation and transport cost per ton obtained by the Caires method are due to this method considering factors other than the current age and the useful life of the machine and adjusting the model and coefficients of use for specific situations.

A Risk‐Reward Framework for the Competitive Analysis of Financial Games

TL;DR: This paper defines notions of risk and reward that are natural extensions of classical competitive analysis and then illustrates their ideas using the ski-rental problem to derive an optimal risk-tolerant algorithm.

Competitive Optimal On-Line Leasing

TL;DR: It is shown here, for the leasing problem, that the interest rate factor reduces the uncertainty involved and the optimal deterministic competitive ratio is 1 + (1+ i)(1-1/k)(1 - k(i/1+i)) , a decreasing function of the interest i (for all reasonable values of i ).

Average-Case Competitive Analyses for Ski-Rental Problems

TL;DR: The famous result for the ski-rental problem shows that skiers should buy their skis after renting them (s - 1) times, which gives us an optimal competitive ratio of 2 - 1/s, which differs from the worst-case competitive analysis and also differ from the traditional average cost analysis.

Average-Case Competitive Analyses for Ski-Rental Problems

TL;DR: In this article, an average-case competitive analysis of ski-rental problems is presented, where the authors show that the behavior of skiers is quite reasonable by using an average case competitive ratio.
