Abstract
An optical beam homogenizer divides and redirects an incident beam to provide uniform irradiation to a plane surface. The beam homogenizer is particularly useful in an apparatus and method for uniform laser irradiation of materials. The apparatus comprises a laser, a beam homogenizer, and a support for the material being irradiated. Depending on the system parameters, the apparatus is useful for metal hardening, semiconductor annealing, or other materials processing applications.

Laser beam machining method

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a laser beam machining method characterized by comprising the steps of mounting a protective tape (25) on the surface (3) of a wafer (1a), radiating laser light (L) by using the back (21) as a laser light incidence plane with an optical converging point (P) positioned in a substrate (15), forming a melt processing region (13) for melt processing by multiphoton absorption.

Laser processing method and laser processing apparatus

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method for cutting a work without producing a fusing and a cracking out of a predetermined cutting line on the surface of the work, where a pulse laser beam is radiated on the predetermined cut line, and a modified area is formed inside the work along the determined cut line by moving the condensed point along the predetermined cutoff point, whereby the work can be cut with a rather small force by starting from the modified area.

Method for improving the crystallinity of semiconductor films by laser beam scanning and the products thereof

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for improving the crystallinity of semiconductor films by scanning the surface of such films with a shaped, focused laser beam is described, where the laser is matched to the film so that the beam delivers sufficient energy to heat the film above a temperature at which crystallization occurs along the scan track.

TL;DR: In this paper, a flat beam intensity profile is obtained by dithering (spacially oscillating) the beam continuously as it sweeps the metal surface, and the intensity profile across the dithered beam can be tailored and is dependent upon the initial beam intensity profiles and the configuration of the dither.

Optical integration with screw supports

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method of optically integrating electromagnetic radiation to produce electromagnetic radiation of uniform energy intensity distribution, which comprises the steps of dissecting electromagnetic radiation into a plurality of segments of electromagnetic radiation, reflecting the resulting segments, resulting in reflected segments of EM radiation and directing the reflected segments, so that a reflected segment of EM intersects another reflected segment at a target.
