Abstract
The properties of chalcogenide glasses that are most important for applications as infrared transmitting materials are reported and their mutual relationships are given. The requirements for the intrinsic transmission of the materials and the reasons for their limitation are discussed. Based on structural interpretations of the optical parameters, combinations of glasses for the apochromatic correction of objectives are proposed. The relations between thermal properties, mechanical strength and stress-induced birefringence are shown and suitable compromises for proper applications are deduced.

IR impurity absorption in Sb2S3–GeS2(Ge2S3) chalcogenide glasses

TL;DR: In this article, the compositional dependences of the measured IR spectra connected with influence of O-, H- and C-based absorbed impurites are analyzed, and the authors show that O-, C-and H-based impurite influence on the IR optical transmission spectra in the chalcogenide glasses (ChG) of the ternary Ge-Sb-S system of stoichiometric Sb 2 S 3 -GeS 2 and non-stochastic Sb S 3 −GeS 3 compositions.

Photonic bandgap confinement in an all-solid tellurite-glass photonic crystal fiber.

TL;DR: The model identifies the bound modes of the structure and provides confirmation of experimentally observed mode field profiles and the experimental fiber attenuation spectrum displays clear bandgap confinement regions whose positions are confirmed by modeling the guiding properties of the ideal geometry using a plane-wave expansion method.

Unravelling interrelations between chemical composition and refractive index dispersion of infrared-transmitting chalcogenide glasses.

TL;DR: It is experimentally demonstrated that a doublet lens configuration consisting of convex and concave lenses with low and high ν values, respectively, is able to reduce the optical aberrations, thus facilitating completion of the LWIR Abbe diagram.

Moldable multispectral glasses in GeS2–Ga2S3–CsCl system transparent from the visible up to the thermal infrared regions

TL;DR: In this article, two glasses with different chromatic dispersion, necessary for the design of an optical system, are developed and characterized, and their ability to be molded into complex optics without crystallization and with excellent roughness is demonstrated.

The interdependence of physical parameters for infrared transmitting glasses

TL;DR: In this paper, the interdependence between chemical composition and the magnitudes of physical parameters related to their use as infrared optical materials was investigated, including density, volumeexpansion coefficient, glass-transition temperature, thermal conductivity, elastic moduli, and Poisson's ratio.
