Optimal discus trajectories.

TLDR
Optimal 3-D range exceeds that predicted by 2-D models because, although angle of attack and lift are negative initially,3-D motion allows advantageous orientation of lift later in flight, with tilt of the axis of symmetry from vertical becoming much smaller at landing.

A review of recent research into aerodynamics of sport projectiles

TL;DR: A review of aerodynamics research connected to sport projectiles is presented in this article, focusing on work conducted in the current millennium, though deference is made to some classic work still invaluable to modern research.

Individualized optimal release angle in discus throwing

B. Yu, +2 more
TL;DR: The results of this study demonstrate that the optimal release angle for discus throwing is thrower-specific, and is not necessarily optimal for all discus throwers, or even themselves.
Journal ArticleDOI

Individualized optimal release angles in discus throwing.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors determined individualized optimal release angles for elite discus throwers based on three-dimensional coordinate data for at least 10 competitive trials for each subject and provided significant information for understanding the biomechanics of discus throwing techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aerodynamic behavior of a discus

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the aerodynamic forces acting on a discus spinning on its transverse axis, as well as on a "non-spinning" discus.

Control Algorithms of the Longitude Motion of the Powered Paraglider

TL;DR: In this paper, a new mathematical model is suggested for the paraglider's longitudinal motion aimed at the study of PPG dynamics and the synthesis of its automatic control, which is composed of a wing (canopy) and a load (gondola) with propelling unit.

A simplex method for function minimization

TL;DR: A method is described for the minimization of a function of n variables, which depends on the comparison of function values at the (n 41) vertices of a general simplex, followed by the replacement of the vertex with the highest value by another point.

An introduction to mechanical vibrations

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a deterministic deterministic model for periodic motion in distributed systems. But they do not consider the effects of random and nonlinear Vibration.
