Outsourcing inventory management decisions in healthcare: Models and application

TLDR
It is found that the recent trend of outsourcing to distribute non-critical medical supplies directly to the hospital departments using them results not only in inventory cost savings but also does not compromise the quality of care as reflected in service levels.

Pharmaceutical supply chain and inventory management strategies: Optimization for a pharmaceutical company and a hospital

TL;DR: An inventory model that integrates continuous review with production and distribution for a supply chain involving a pharmaceutical company and a hospital supply chain is presented and a procedure for determining optimal solutions for inventory lot size, lead time, and the number of deliveries to achieve hospital CSL targets is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measuring the logistics performance of internal hospital supply chains – A literature study

TL;DR: The purpose of this article is to present existing research on performance measurement at the internal hospital supply chain, and more specifically in the operating theatre since it is among the most critical resources for a hospital.
Journal ArticleDOI

Material logistics in hospitals: A literature review

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the state-of-the-art of research on material logistics management in hospitals and provide guidance through categorizing literature and identifying major research streams.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of cloud-based information sharing on hospital supply chain performance: A system dynamics framework

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used causal loop diagrams (CLDs) to simulate the performance of traditional and cloud-based hospital supply chains and compared the performance metrics: average inventory levels, lead time, and unfilled orders.
Journal ArticleDOI

Design of the optimal feeding policy in an assembly system

TL;DR: This paper describes an innovative and integrated approach to component management optimization within a production/assembly system using an integrated framework that considers both aspects of the problem: the centralization/decentralization of components in order to minimize the total storage costs and the right feeding policies.

Multi-echelon systems: A service measure perspective

TL;DR: This paper focuses on the interactions between the elements that constitute such a multi-echelon system, in order to determine several service measures (e.g. external customer service level and inventory holding costs).
