Plant uptake of non-ionic organic chemicals from soils

TLDR
In this article, simple properties of chemicals -half-life (T1/2), log octanol-water partition coefficient (log Kow) and Henery's Law constant (Hc) -were developed to screen organic chemicals for potential plant uptake.

Compilation of Henry's law constants (version 4.0) for water as solvent

TL;DR: According to Henry's law, the equilibrium ratio between the abundances in the gas phase and in the aqueous phase is constant for a dilute solution as discussed by the authors, and a compilation of 17 350 values of Henry's Law constants for 4632 species, collected from 689 references is available at http://wwwhenrys-law.org

Plant uptake, accumulation and translocation of phenanthrene and pyrene in soils

TL;DR: Translocations of phenanthrene and pyrene from shoots to roots were undetectable, however, transport of these compounds from roots to shoots usually was the major pathway of shoot accumulation.

Bioconcentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in vegetables grown in an industrial area.

TL;DR: Principal component analysis indicated that the mixture of PAHs in inner vegetable tissue was very similar to that in air vapour thus suggesting gaseous deposition as the principal pathway for the accumulation ofPAHs.

Semi-empirical estimation of sorption of hydrophobic pollutants on natural sediments and soils

TL;DR: In this article, a method for estimating the equilibrium sorption behavior of hydrophobic pollutants was developed for estimating KOC from water solubility (including crystal energy) and octanol/water partition coefficients.

Relationships between lipophilicity and root uptake and translocation of non-ionised chemicals by barley†

TL;DR: In this article, the uptake by roots from solution, and subsequent translocation to shoots in barley, of two series of non-ionised chemicals, O-methylcarbamoyloximes and substituted phenylureas, were measured, Uptake of the chemicals by roots was greater the more lipophilic the chemical, and fell to a lower limiting value for polar chemicals.

A critical review of Henry’s law constants for chemicals of environmental interest

TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between vapor pressure, solubility and Henry's law constant for solid and liquid compounds is presented and experimental techniques for obtaining these quantities with the required accuracy are discussed.
