A tutorial on synthetic aperture radar

TL;DR: This paper provides first a tutorial about the SAR principles and theory, followed by an overview of established techniques like polarimetry, interferometry and differential interferometric as well as of emerging techniques (e.g., polarimetric SARinterferometry, tomography and holographic tomography).
Journal ArticleDOI

First demonstration of airborne SAR tomography using multibaseline L-band data

TL;DR: The authors present the concept of aperture synthesis for tomographic imaging for the case of a multibaseline imaging geometry and propose a method for reduction of the height ambiguities associated to the irregular and undersampled spatial distribution of the imaging positions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Single-baseline polarimetric SAR interferometry

TL;DR: In this paper, the application of single-baseline polarimetric SAR interferometry to the remote sensing and measurement of structure over forested terrain is discussed and validated, based on this model, an inversion algorithm which allows the estimation of forest parameters such as tree height, average extinction, and underlying topography from singlebaseline fully-polarimetric interferometric data is addressed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vertical structure of vegetated land surfaces from interferometric and polarimetric radar

Robert N. Treuhaft, +1 more
- 01 Jan 2000 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the estimation of vertical-structure parameters from combined interferometric and polarimetric radar data is described, and the authors present a method to estimate the vertical structure parameters from both interferometry and radar data.

TanDEM-X: A Satellite Formation for High-Resolution SAR Interferometry

TL;DR: A detailed overview of the TanDEM-X mission concept is given which is based on the systematic combination of several innovative technologies, including a novel satellite formation flying concept allowing for the collection of bistatic data with short along-track baselines, as well as the use of new interferometric modes for system verification and DEM calibration.

Intensity-driven adaptive-neighborhood technique for polarimetric and interferometric SAR parameters estimation

TL;DR: Subjective and objective performance analysis, including coherence edge detection, receiver operating characteristics plots, and bias reduction tables, recommends the proposed algorithm as an effective POL-InSAR postprocessing technique.
