Aspects of Invariance in Solid Mechanics

TL;DR: The Lagrangian viewpoint is also well suited to handling pure mechanics, as it is advocated in relation to incremental boundary-value problems as discussed by the authors, and the failure of incremental uniqueness, or bifurcation, is arguably the phenomenon that is most typical of continuum response at unrestricted levels of deformation.

Wrinkling behavior of rectangular plates under lateral constraint

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the wrinkling behavior of both elastic and elastic-plastic sheet subjected to edge compression and lateral constraint and established a criterion for wrinkling under such constraint using a combination of finite element analysis and energy conservation.

Microstructure and local crystallographic evolution in an Al1 wt% Mg alloy deformed at intermediate temperature and high strain-rate

TL;DR: In this article, the deformation processes occurring in an Al1 wt% Mg alloy of commercial purity have been studied using plane strain compression (PSC) as part of a matrix of tests covering a range of temperatures and strain rates experienced in industrial hot rolling, the combination T = 305°C and e= 25s−1 has been studied in detail This is near the top of the possible range for the Zener-Hollomon parameter, Z, in hot rolling.

Plastic instability: Criteria and computational approaches

TL;DR: In this article, general criteria of instability in time-independent elastic-plastic solids and related computational approaches are reviewed, and the distinction between instability of equilibrium and instability of a deformation process is discussed with reference to instabilities of dynamic, geometric or material type.

An analysis of the imperfection sensitivity of square elastic-plastic plates under axial compression

TL;DR: In this paper, an exact asymptotic expansion is given for the initial post-bifurcation behavior of a perfect plate compressed into the plastic range, and the imperfection sensitivity is studied through an asymptic analysis of the behavior of the hypoelastic plate that results from neglecting the effect of elastic unloading.

Elasto‐plastic stress analysis. A generalization for various contitutive relations including strain softening

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss several similar strategies for solving the problem of elas-to-plastic problems in the context of a general formulation, which includes ASSOCIATED and Non-Associated PLASTIC RELATIONS and StRAIN HARDENING as well as STRAIN SOFTENING.

Post-bifurcation behavior in the plastic range

TL;DR: In this article, a simple model is used to introduce some of the analytical and physical features of post-bifurcation phenomena in continuous elastic-plastic systems and an analysis is presented for the initial post-buckling behavior of a class of elasticplastic solids subject to loads characterized by a single load parameter.

TL;DR: Axisymmetric plastic deformation of imperfection sensitive spherical shell after elastic buckling, considering load carrying capacity as mentioned in this paper, considering load-carrying capacity of spherical shell, is considered.

Static, vibration and buckling analysis of axisymmetric circular plates using finite elements

TL;DR: In this article, the static, vibration, and buckling analysis of axisymmetric circular plates using the finite element method is discussed, and the stiffness matrix of a typical annular plate element is derived from the given displacement function and the appropriate constitutive relations.
