There is increasing consensus that the term professional learning community broadly refers to an inclusive and mutually supportive group of people with a collaborative, reflective, and growth-oriented approach toward investigating and learning more about their practice in order to improve students’ learning. In many countries, policymakers view its potential for the capacity building needed to implement educational reform, while researchers are trying to gain greater nuanced and contextualized understanding of professional learning community. Abstract: Res_por:O artigo realiza uma revisao atual das politicas de melhoria da escola, desde a perspetiva de escola como uma unidade fundamental de mudanca e aprendizagem organizacional. Em vez de estrategias verticais ou prescritivas, isto implica formas horizontais de trabalho com as escolas, para que possam construir as suas capacidades de melhoria. Um crescente corpo de pesquisas sugere que a escola requer ser articulada mediante o desenvolvimento de uma lideranca pedagogica e uma comunidade profissional. A sustentabilidade da mudanca apoia-se na construcao de capacidades de toda a escola para promover a aprendizagem profissional.
