In this article, an additional subreflector is introduced between the Gregorian corrector and the spherical reflector, in order to cause the power of the feed horn to be uniformly distributed over the main reflector aperture.
Abstract
A technique is proposed for raising the efficiency of sphereical-reflector antennas embodying the Gregorian method of phase correction. The method is based on the Galindo-Williams modified Cassegrain antenna. An additional subreflector is introduced between the Gregorian corrector and the spherical reflector, in order to cause the power rom the feed horn to be uniformly distributed over the main reflector aperture. Equations are presented which enable the co-ordinates of the subreflectors to be computed. Two examples are given and a theoretical effieciency of 93% is predicted in one case.

Optimum design of a Gregorian-corrected spherical-reflector antenna

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of spherical reflector antennas with Gregorian correctors is investigated with particular reference to their application in satellite-communications ground stations, and an optimum subreflector profile is chosen on the basis of maximum overall efficiency for a particular feed and antenna-scan angle.

Diffraction analysis of a proposed dual‐reflector feed for the spherical reflector antenna of the Arecibo Observatory

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual-reflector feed for the spherical reflector antenna in Arecibo is presented, which is analyzed over a large frequency range: at the lower frequencies by physical optics (PO) integration, and at the higher ones by a geometrical optic (GO) ray tracing technique described in another work.

Offset spherical dual-reflector antenna

TL;DR: The dual offset spherical reflector antenna as discussed by the authors offers the advantage of a circularly symmetric main reflector together with a subreflector possessing an axis of symmetry, which could lead to significant cost reductions in manufacture compared to existing offset designs.
