On the definition of "on-line" in job scheduling problems

TL;DR: This work shows how stability can be expressed as a simple constraint on release times and processing times, and gives empirical and theoretical justifications that such a constraint can close the gap between the theory and practice.

Tandem Queues with Impatient Customers for Blood Screening Procedures

TL;DR: A numerical solution for the queue length distribution in the M/M[k, K]/S + M queue is presented and several optimization problems are solved and the power-series algorithm, which is a numerical-analytic method, is discussed.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

On Sensitivity of Reliability Models to the Shape of Life and Repair Time Distributions

TL;DR: It is shown that the steady-state probabilities of the systems with a buffer or with generally distributed inter-arrival times are sensitive to the shape of distributions but simultaneously the waiting time distributions have a weak sensitivity.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Comparison of quick charge technologies for electric vehicle introduction in Netherlands

TL;DR: The Electric Vehicle (EV) charging demand on quick charge replenishment (QCR), by Fast Charging and Battery Switching, based on Dutch travel pattern is modeled and compared and the potential peak power requirements of the two methods are obtained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of the fluid weighted fair queueing system

TL;DR: In this paper, a fluid weighted fair queueing system with two classes of customers, who arrive according to Poisson processes and require arbitrarily distributed service times, is analyzed and the Laplace transform of the joint distribution of the workloads in the two virtual queues of the system by means of unknown Laplace transforms.
