Performance modeling and analysis of load balancing policies with priority queueing

TL;DR: An adaptive load-balancing algorithm in the homogeneous distributed systems in which only local status information is used is studied, and the effects of service disciplines on load balancing are analyzed.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Some algebraic considerations for efficient computations in timed Petri nets

Bruno Gaujal
TL;DR: Structural properties of some classes of timed Petri nets can be used to derive efficient algorithms to compute important quantities such as total number of firings, average number of tokens in places or stability conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multipassive-star-coupler hub for metro WDM networks

TL;DR: In this article, a multipassive-star-coupler hub or multi-PSC hub is proposed to provide the same communication functions as AWG hubs and two additional functions: 1) it can efficiently transport non-uniform metro traffic via nonuniform channel allocation within the hub and 2) it could easily be scaled up by adding more PSCs for handling the everincreasing traffic load.

Goodput analysis of a fluid queue with selective discarding and a responsive bursty source

TL;DR: Using techniques from Volterra integral equations, an explicit characterization of the queue length distribution at commencement epochs of bursts of bursts is obtained from which an explicit characterized of the goodput ratio associated with such a feedback system is obtained.

An alternative proof of the rate-distortionfunction of poisson processes with a queueing distortion measure.

TL;DR: This paper presents a proof of the rate distortion function of a Poisson process with a queuing distortion measure that is in complete analogy with the proofs associated with the rates distortion functions of a Bernoulli source with Hamming distortion measure and a Gaussian source with squared-error distortion measure.
