Journal ArticleDOI

Meiotic recombination in sexual diploid and apomictic triploid dandelions (Taraxacum officinale L.).

TL;DR: This study analysed meiosis in both sexual diploid and apomictic triploid plants to find mechanisms that could account for the high levels of genetic variation in the apomicts and demonstrated incidental formation of tetrads, which suggests that hybridization can occur in triploids apomels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies of meiosis in vitro: II. Effect of inhibiting DNA synthesis during meiotic prophase on chromosome structure and behavior

TL;DR: Inhibitors of DNA synthesis interfere with the meiotic cycle if administered to cells during zygonema and/or pachynema and the relevance of these observations to chromosome structure is discussed.
Book ChapterDOI

Polyploidy in Insect Evolution

TL;DR: The possible models of origin of polyploid insects are covered as well as data on their gaenetic variability, and apparent environmental correlations in the distribution of certain forms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetics of sex determination in man and mouse.

P.N. Goodfellow, +1 more
- 01 Feb 1988 -
TL;DR: The cytological evidence has revealed a visible mechanical basis for the production of males and females in equal numbers and irrespective of external conditions.
