Bio-inspired interfaces for easy-to-recycle lithium-ion batteries

TL;DR: In this paper, a microscale near-surface architecture is designed on the interface between the current collector and the composite film in lithium-ion batteries, so that it displays controllable and directional adhesion, i.e., enhanced adhesion can be obtained during its lifetime to cope with the substantial volume changes of composite film upon intercalation and deintercalation.

A Critical Review and Analysis on the Recycling of Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries

TL;DR: In this paper, the current status of spent lithium-ion battery recycling is summarized in light of the whole recycling process, especially focusing on the hydrometallurgy, which is used to extract metals or separate impurities from a specific waste stream so that the recycled materials or compounds can be further prepared by incorporating principles of materials engineering.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recycling of lithium-ion batteries: Recent advances and perspectives

TL;DR: A review of recent advances in recycling technologies of spent lithium-ion batteries, including the development of recycling processes, the products obtained from recycling, and the effects of recycling on environmental burdens are also highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI

Projecting the Future Levelized Cost of Electricity Storage Technologies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors determine the levelized cost of storage (LCOS) for 9 technologies in 12 power system applications from 2015 to 2050 based on projected investment cost reductions and current performance parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Processes and technologies for the recycling and recovery of spent lithium-ion batteries

TL;DR: In this article, the authors carried out a state-of-the-art study on the technologies used in the recycling and regeneration of industrial lithium-ion batteries, such as cobalt, nickel and copper, in a way which is both profitable and environmentally friendly.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Mini-Review on Metal Recycling from Spent Lithium Ion Batteries

TL;DR: A review of the state-of-the-art processes for metal recycling from spent lithium ion batteries can be found in this article, where the authors introduce the structure of a battery and summarize all available technologies that are used in different recovery processes.
