TLDR
The Commission on Atomic Weights and Isotopic Abundances (COWA) as discussed by the authors recommended that isotopic abundances on non-corresponding scales be reported on a scale such that 2 H/ 1 H of SLAP (Standard Light Antarctic Precipitation) is 0.572 times that of VSMOW, and 13 C/ 12 C relative ratios of all substances be expressed relative to VPDB (Vienna Peedee belemnite).

Fundamentals of Isotope Geochemistry

TL;DR: In this article, the authors illustrate the environmental isotopes that are natural and anthropogenic isotopes whose wide distribution in the hydrosphere can assist in the solution of hydrogeochemical problems.

Standard for Reporting Concentrations of Deuterium and Oxygen-18 in Natural Waters.

TL;DR: A standard, based on the set of ocean water samples used by Epstein and Mayeda to obtain a reference standard for oxygen-18 data, but defined relative to the National Bureau of Standards isotopic reference water sample, is proposed for reporting both deuterium and oxygen- 18 variations in natural watersrelative to the same water.

Standards for stable isotope measurements in natural compounds

TL;DR: Two water standards have been distributed by the International Atomic Energy Agency since 1968 as discussed by the authors, called V-SMOW (Vienna Standard Mean Ocean Water) and SLAP (Standard Light Antarctic Precipitation) were prepared, following a recommendation by an Advisory Group Meeting convened by the IAEA in 1966.

Absolute isotopic scale for deuterium analysis of natural waters. absolute d/h ratio for smow.

R. Hagemann, +2 more
- 01 Dec 1970 -
TL;DR: In this article, the absolute isotopic ratios of the hydrogen content of two reference water standards called SMOW 2 and SLAP 3 were measured to define an absolute isotope scale, which can be used to normalize measurements of the natural isotopic variations in waters.
