Reservoir‐System Simulation and Optimization Models
TLDR
A broad array of computer models have been developed for evaluating reservoir operations as discussed by the authors, and selecting a modeling and analysis approach for a particular application depends upon the characteristics of the reservoir characteristics.Abstract:

Integrating Historical Operating Decisions and Expert Criteria into a DSS for the Management of a Multireservoir System
TL;DR: In this paper, a decision support system (DSS) for seasonal operation of the reservoirs of the Jucar River system is presented. But this system relies on the codevelopment of a DSS tool that is able to explicitly reproduce the decision-making processes and criteria considered by the system operators.

TL;DR: A comparison of the models shows that the proposed Model 2 increased the reliability and resilience of the system by 7.5% and 6.3%, respectively, while the proposed SDP-ANN model demonstrated greater resilience and reliability with a lower supply deficit.

Reliability Improved Stochastic Dynamic Programming for Reservoir Operation Optimization
Mohsen Saadat,Keyvan Asghari +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a new method to avoid infeasible conditions and enhance the solution efficiency with new discretization procedure, which employs reliability concept to maximize the reservoir releases to satisfy the downstream demands.
Conceptual model of intelligent decision support system based on naturalistic decision theory for reservoir operation during emergency situation
TL;DR: The model is expected to assist reservoir operator in making decision during emergency situation; typically during heavy rainfall when early and fast decision is required to release the reservoir water in order to leave enough space for incoming water and to release water in the save carrying capacity of the downstream channel thus avoiding flood in downstream areas.

Optimal Control of Reservoir Releases to Minimize Sedimentation in Rivers and Reservoirs
John W. Nicklow,Larry W. Mays +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, an optimal control methodology and computational model are developed to evaluate multi-reservoir release schedules that minimize sediment scour and deposition in rivers and reservoirs, and the sedimentation problem is formulated within a discrete-time optimal control framework in which reservoir releases represent control variables and reservoir bed elevations, storage levels, and river bed elevation represent state variables.
