Roles of alpha1- and beta-adrenergic receptors in adrenergic responsiveness of liver cells formed after partial hepatectomy

TLDR
It appears that during the process of liver regeneration which follows partial hepatectomy there is a transition in the type of adrenergic receptor involved in the hepatic actions of catecholamines from β in the initial stages to later α 1, a similar transition seems to occur as the animal ages.

Stimulatory and inhibitory effects of catecholamines on DNA synthesis in primary rat hepatocyte cultures : role of alpha1-and beta-adrenergic mechanisms

TL;DR: Catecholamines, via β‐adrenoceptors and cyclic AMP, inhibit the G1‐S transition, and may thus play a role in the termination of hepatic proliferation.

Dual effects of glucagon and cyclic AMP on DNA synthesis in cultured rat hepatocytes: stimulatory regulation in early G1 and inhibition shortly before the S phase entry.

TL;DR: The results indicate that cyclic AMP has dual effects on hepatocyte proliferation with a stimulatory modulation early in the prereplicative period (Go or early G1), and a marked inhibition exerted immediately before the transition from G1 to S phase.

Regulation of hepatocyte growth: alpha-1 adrenergic receptor and ras p21 changes in liver regeneration.

TL;DR: A role for alpha‐1 receptors and ras protein in the early events of liver regeneration is suggested, with a significant loss of specific [3H]‐prazosin binding to cells isolated from rat livers 48 and 72 hr after PHX.

Beta adrenergic regulation of rat liver glycogenolysis during aging

TL;DR: It is proposed that current concepts of alpha adrenergic-responsive liver glycogenolysis underestimate a physiological role for beta adrenergic responsiveness over the majority of the life span.

HIGH-YIELD PREPARATION OF ISOLATED RAT LIVER PARENCHYMAL CELLS: A Biochemical and Fine Structural Study

TL;DR: Cytoplasmic vacuolization in a small percentage of cells and potassium loss are the only indications of cell injury detected, and the isolated cells are comparable to normal hepatic parenchymal cells in situ in appearance and function.
