Early detection of idiopathic hæmochromatosis: relative value of serum-ferritin and hla typing
TL;DR: HLA typing provides some indication of the risk of I.H.C.C .
Journal ArticleDOI
HL-A types in Danish Eskimos from Greenland.
TL;DR: HL-A typing of 110 Danish Eskimos has shown a marked difference in the frequencies of some HL-A antigens as compared to Danish Caucasians, and the importance of this in relation to the high frequency of trophoblastic lesions among EskIMos is discussed.

Influence of HL-A incompatibility on cadaveric renal transplantation.
J.R. Batchelor,ValerieC. Joysey +1 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that prospective HL-A-antigen typing of donors and recipients should be carried out whenever possible, so that multiple incompatibilities can be avoided.

Werner's syndrome: In vivo and in vitro characteristics as a model of aging☆
Yoshinobu Nakao,Michizo Kishihara,Hiroki Yoshimi,Yoshimichi Inoue,Kotaro Tanaka,Noboru Sakamoto,Shigeru Matsukura,Hiroo Imura,Masamitsu Ichihashi,Yoshisada Fujiwara +9 more
TL;DR: Culture studies showed that skin fibroblasts in Werner's syndrome exhibited more decreased potentials of in vitro clonal growth and elongation of newly synthesizing DMA as phenotypic expressions than did normal skin cells, and the relationship of these findings to the basic genetic defect of Werner’s syndrome remains unknown.
Journal ArticleDOI
The emerging role of complement inhibitors in transplantation
TL;DR: The role of complement in the biology of kidney transplantation is becoming more and more significant, especially but not only because of access to drugs inhibiting complement, but also because of the many regulatory factors.

Serotyping for homotransplantation. X. Survival of 196 grafted kidneys subsequent to typing.
TL;DR: It is concluded that although survival in this series is associated with matching in marginal limits, many hazards which influence survival especially in the early 3 month period may be making it difficult to demonstrate the association.

Comparative results of cadaver and related donor renal homografts in man, and immunologic implications of the outcome of second and paired transplants.

Serotyping for homotransplantation. 23. Analysis of kidney transplants from parental versus sibling donors.
TL;DR: If the HL-A locus is to be considered the principal histocompatibility locus in man, it is clear that with kidney transplantation utilizing current immunosuppressive therapy an incompatibility for a single allele having any of the five antigens studied is not invariably deleterious.

PaulI. Terasaki,Donna L. Vredevoe,K. A. Porter,Max R. Mickey,T. L. Marchioro,Tanous D. Faris,T J Herrmann,Thomas E. Starzl +7 more
TL;DR: It was shown that 52 dialyzed uremic patients and 49 patients who had been treated with immunosuppression for over 1 year did not possess more or less antigens than a random population of normal individuals.
