TLDR
A transfer matrix method was used to obtain numerical solutions to the linearized von Karman plate equations, and to determine critical angles of twist per unit length which buckle the plate as mentioned in this paper, in a compact nondimensional form, for a range of material, geometric and loading parameters.About:

Triangular buckling patterns of twisted inextensible strips
TL;DR: In this article, a modified boundary-value problem was formulated to construct post-buckling solutions in good agreement with the observed pattern in twisted strips, and the force-extension and moment-twist behavior of these strips by varying the mode number n of triangular facets and finding critical loads with jumps to higher modes.

An asymptotic description of the elastic instability of twisted thin elastic plates
TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the deformation experienced by a stretched elastic strip when its ends are subjected to small twisting moments and describe analytically the wrinkling instability that occurs when the strip is very thin.

A one-dimensional model for elastic ribbons: a little stretching makes a big difference
Basile Audoly,Sébastien Neukirch +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a non-linear one-dimensional model for elastic ribbons with thickness t, width a and length l, assuming t ≪ a ≪ l ǫ, is derived, which is asymptotically correct and can handle finite rotations.

Dynamic stability of rotating cantilever composite thin walled twisted plate with initial geometric imperfection under in-plane load
TL;DR: In this article, the critical buckling load and dynamic instability of the rotating cantilever cross ply laminate thin walled twisted plate with exponential function type initial geometric imperfection are investigated for the first time.

The Elastic Stability of a Thin Twisted Strip. II
TL;DR: In this paper, the equilibrium and elastic stability of a thin twisted strip was discussed and the results obtained by the theory were found to be in good agreement with the observation, however, it has been pointed out by Professor Southwell, F. R. S., that the solution of the stability equations which was given in that paper may only be regarded as an approximate solution for, although it satisfies exactly the differential equations and two boundary conditions along the edge of the strip, it only satisfies the remaining boundary conditions approximately.

The Equilibrium and Elastic Stability of a Thin Twisted Strip
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the second order term arises from the extension or contraction of linear elements, which, in the unstrained state, were parallel to the length of the strip.
