‘Standing’ full-scale loading tests on the mechanical behavior of a special-shape shield lining under shallowly-buried conditions

TLDR
In this article, a reconfigurable loading and data acquisition platform was developed for the first time to perform "standing" prototype loading tests on a special-shape segmental lining.

Failure tests and bearing performance of prototype segmental linings of shield tunnel under high water pressure

TL;DR: In this article, the failure process of two types of segmental lining structures used in the Shiziyang Tunnel in China, namely, the straight joint assembly structure (STRS) and staggered joint assembly (STGS), are investigated and summarized with prototype tests.

Analytical solution for a jointed shield tunnel lining reinforced by secondary linings

TL;DR: Based on the curved Euler beam theory, an analytical solution for a jointed shield tunnel lining reinforced by secondary linings, which can be idealized as a partial-interaction composite curved beam, is proposed in this paper.

Study on the behavior of squared and sub-rectangular tunnels using the Hyperstatic Reaction Method

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of the Hyperstatic Reaction Method (HRM) for the case of squared or sub-rectangular tunnels was investigated. And the results indicated that HRM can be effectively used to estimate the behavior of squared and subrectangular tunnel walls, and a parametric study was conducted to highlight the influence of the earth pressure coefficient and Young's modulus on the structural forces, and deformations induced by the excavation in the tunnel lining.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sub-Rectangular Tunnel Behavior under Seismic Loading

TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical analysis of sub-rectangular tunnels under seismic loading is presented, where the authors highlight the differences between the behavior of subrectangular tunnel compared with circular tunnel when subjected to seismic loadings.

The circular tunnel in elastic ground

A Muir Wood
- 01 Mar 1975 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors established the loading on a circular tunnel in the "elliptical" mode of deformation, making certain simplifying assumptions, and the effects of shear forces between ground and lining were first ignored and subsequently introduced in an explicit manner.

The equivalence of a jointed shield-driven tunnel lining to a continuous ring structure

K M Lee, +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a method of determining the correction factor to approximate a jointed, shield-driven tunnel lining as a continuous ring structure under plane strain conditions is presented. But this method is not suitable for tunnel construction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of segmental joints on tunnel lining

TL;DR: In this article, a simplified method for evaluating the moment carrying of a segmental tunnel liner was proposed using a result from a FEM analysis in which parameters were obtained by calibration against a true scale model test.
