Trust representation and management has been studied in in the context of various information for a long time. Originally a digital equivalent of human trust, trust in information system is used for different purposes. In this paper we surveyed studies on how trust is represented and managed in previous trust/reputation systems. We focus on how trust in information systems is formed-manually or automatically, how trust is represented according to metrics used, and how trust is managed when transitivity is concerned. Furthermore, we investigated the characteristics of each design choice. Finally, we briefly reviewed typical architectures of trust management systems, and critical issues that affects their performance and robustness.read more

Trust management for the Semantic Web
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a web of trust, in which each user maintains trust in a small number of other users and then composes these trust values into trust values for all other users.

A Conceptual Framework for Trust Models
TL;DR: A conceptual framework for computational trust models that will be used for analyzing their features and for comparing heterogeneous and relevant trust models is proposed.

A trust model for vehicular network-based incident reports
TL;DR: This paper proposes an approach to determine the likelihood of the accuracy of V2V incident reports based on the trustworthiness of the report originator and those vehicles that forward it, and observes on average 85% accuracy.

Trust management framework for social networks
Ping Zhang,Arjan Durresi +1 more
TL;DR: Inspired by the similarities between human trust and physical measurements, a new system of trust metrics, composed by impression and confidence, which captures both human trust level and its uncertainty, while being intuitive and user friendly is proposed.

A mathematical theory of evidence
TL;DR: This book develops an alternative to the additive set functions and the rule of conditioning of the Bayesian theory: set functions that need only be what Choquet called "monotone of order of infinity." and Dempster's rule for combining such set functions.

A technique for the measurement of attitudes
TL;DR: The instrument to be described here is not, however, indirect in the usual sense of the word; it does not seek responses to items apparently unrelated to the attitudes investigated, and seeks to measure prejudice in a manner less direct than is true of the usual prejudice scale.

The Eigentrust algorithm for reputation management in P2P networks
TL;DR: An algorithm to decrease the number of downloads of inauthentic files in a peer-to-peer file-sharing network that assigns each peer a unique global trust value, based on the peer's history of uploads is described.

A survey of trust and reputation systems for online service provision
TL;DR: Trust and reputation systems represent a significant trend in decision support for Internet mediated service provision as mentioned in this paper, where the basic idea is to let parties rate each other, for example after the completion of a transaction, and use the aggregated ratings about a given party to derive a trust or reputation score.
