Regulation of water intake by rats deprived of food
TL;DR: In this article, work loads were coupled to drinking, by requiring the rats to press a lever for water, which distorted general metabolic patterns and the span of constant water intake was short, and it was suggested that water intake is regulated to minimize energy expenditure subject to constraints imposed by limiting processes such as maximum ability to concentrate urine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extending in vitro conditioning in Aplysia to analyze operant and classical processes in the same preparation
TL;DR: This study describes a first step toward realizing this goal, by developing a single in vitro preparation in which both operant and classical conditioning can be studied concurrently, and reports results that reproduced previously published results, even under more conservative and homogenous selection criteria and tonic stimulation regime.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cognitive behavior therapy for eating disorders versus normalization of eating behavior.
TL;DR: The critical aspect of the CBT treatment of bulimia nervosa may actually have been the normalization of eating behavior, and when eating behavior was normalized, cognitive and emotional abnormalities were resolved at remission without cognitive therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of continuous versus partial reinforcement schedules on associative learning, memory and extinction in Lymnaea stagnalis.
TL;DR: A continuous schedule of reinforcement (CR) in an operant conditioning procedure results in the acquisition of associative learning and the formation of long-term memory and the memory produced by the CR/PR schedule is resistant to extinction training.

The Mentality of Apes
TL;DR: Koehler's analysis of the intelligence of higher primates marked a turning point in the psychology of thinking and the continuing struggle between behaviorism and cognitive psychology as discussed by the authors, but it was largely ignored for decades because it violated the conventional wisdom that animal behavior is simply the result of instinct or conditioning.

Psychology from the Standpoint of a Behaviorist
TL;DR: Wozniak as mentioned in this paper describes the early elaboration of the theory of reflex, habit, and implicit response in the early stages of the development of the early development of behaviourism.
