The lead dioxide electrode
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the recent literature dealing with the redox mechanism of the lead-acid cell positive electrode is reviewed, where the reverse reaction by which lead dioxide is formed and the parasitic intrusion of the self discharge are dealt with as a precursor to the total cyclic process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expanded Use of the Rietveld Method in Studies of Phase Abundance in Multiphase Mixtures
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the Rietveld ab initio "pattern intensity constants" can be scaled/calibrated experimentally, as in other whole-pattern methods of analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thermodynamic description of the Pb-O system
TL;DR: In this paper, the phase relations and thermodynamic properties of the Pb-O system are reviewed and assessed, and the transformation temperature between PbO and Pb3O4 was also experimentally reinvestigated.

The high-pressure phase transition sequence from the rutile-type through to the cotunnite-type structure in
TL;DR: In this article, four phase transitions were observed in under pressure up to 47 GPa using x-ray diffraction in a diamond anvil cell, and a cotunnite-type structure was adopted by a group IVb dioxide, which has implications for the high-pressure behavior of the homologous compounds with smaller cations.

Solid-Phase Speciation of Pb in Urban Road Dust Sediment: A XANES and EXAFS Study
TL;DR: X-ray absorption spectroscopy and SEM have been used to study the solid-phase speciation of Pb in urban road dust sediments in Manchester, UK, and indicate that PbCrO(4) and Pb-sorbed goethite occur in 1000-500 microm, 250-125 microm and <38 microm size fractions, collectively representing between 51-67% of the contributing P b-phases.

A profile refinement method for nuclear and magnetic structures
TL;DR: In this paper, a structure refinement method was described which does not use integrated neutron powder intensities, single or overlapping, but employs directly the profile intensities obtained from step-scanning measurements of the powder diagram.

A new computer program for Rietveld analysis of X-ray powder diffraction patterns
D. B. Wiles,R. A. Young +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Rietveld [J. Appl. Cryst. (1969), 2, 65-71] method of structure refinement from powder diffraction patterns is widely used with neutron data and increasingly so with X-ray data.
Journal ArticleDOI
An analysis of the Rietveld refinement method
M. Sakata,M.J. Cooper +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of the Rietveld profile refinement method used in the interpretation of neutron or X-ray powder diffraction patterns has been carried out and it is shown that the values obtained for the structural parameters are not exactly the same as those obtained from an integrated intensity refinement of the same data and that the standard deviations of the parameters are determined incorrectly.
